There is a great line from the movie Ghostbusters, Dan Akroyd as Ray Stanz says “I love the university they gave us money and facilities; we didn’t have to produce anything! You’ve never been out of college! You don’t know what it’s like out there! I’ve worked in the private sector. They expect results.”
The private sector expects results; that’s a simple statement but a powerful statement. The private sector works with a bottom line, whether they realize it or not families work with a bottom line too. Most families strive to still have some paycheck left when they run out of month, that gets difficult if you have the wrong kind of economy working.
President Trump is being successful at being the President, so successful that as his poll numbers rise, some publications are reluctant to publish the results because they feel that his high poll numbers are the result of an outlier not a true picture. The media only tells us how bad he is or how rotten he is; they never report his accomplishments unless they have to.
Results also known as substance count for something. Appearance, or intentions are misleading and non-binding. Appearance and intentions are usually associated with politicians; they want to give the appearance of taking a stand for or against something without being anchored to that stand, they want to offer the appearance that they are doing something but they don’t want to be tied too tightly to it if the need arises for them to have to abandon that position.
President Trump, the outsider, the nonprofessional politician, is from the private sector and he not only expects results, he demands them. Time is money, money is results. President Trump doesn’t have time for appearances he has time for results. He has been getting results in spite of the opposition to him, and there has been a great deal of opposition to him.
The Trump resistance and the media don’t quite understand results because they never live in the private sector or the real world. They all live in their cocoons and have no contact with the rest of the country. The media has decided that they won’t show any more of President Trump’s live appearances. They have an alleged business reason not to do that anymore, but I think they hate to show their audience the support he gets when he goes out in the world. Jane and Joe Sixpack love him and what he’s doing.
Those of us not on the left or in the media love this country and love what President Trump is doing. We are becoming great again, and that excites us. We want to be the super power again, we want to be led by a man or a woman who is real and sincere. A person who loves this country and wants us to shine. President Trump is doing that.
The tax bill, the progress with North Korea, the deregulation and the job growth are all things that the President and the Republicans can brag about. Results count in the real world. “Money talks, Bull Shit walks” is a phrase from Middle America, and it makes sense.
Accomplishments are hard to challenge, results count. Not one democrat voted for the tax reform bill, that will be the single biggest obstacle for the democrats to have to jump over. How can you explain that I didn’t vote for a tax cut that lowered your taxes and let you keep more of what you earned? They’ll attempt to make it look like the bill was bad and should have been be voted down, but too many voters got more money in their checks and less money withheld, so that’s hard to explain away. The republicans are going to drive that point over and over forcing their opponents, the democrats who didn’t vote for it, to have to explain why they voted against a tax cut.
The democrats are going to be tied to the notion that they want President Trump impeached and removed from office, but his accomplishments get in the way. A solution to the North Korean problem, more jobs less unemployment, progress in trade and in immigration, the roll back of regulations alone is worth billions of dollars, all these things will count in favor of the President and his administration.
Results matter, when you have a job to do and you get it done it tells a story. When Joe Shit the Raggpicker picks up every rag in the shop, his supervisor knows that Joe Shit is a good employee. When Crazy Billy’s Liquor store is always filled with customers and you always find the liquor you want at a price you can afford you know that Crazy Billy knows how to run a liquor store. When Congressman Lying Sack of Shit tells you after the election he will cut your taxes and increase your pay and make sure your wife loves you every day of the week and twice on payday, but you never see anything he promises, you start to realize Congressman Lying Sack of Shit was named well.
General Eisenhower may be the closest we’ve come to electing anyone like President Trump. Ike was a General and was used to results, but he was never in the private sector, he didn’t have to make a payroll or a profit. Don’t get me wrong; I’ll take a successful military officer over a politician, but a businessman or woman I think would be best.
The long list of accomplishments that this President will have to brag about for the midterm elections will be impressive, the voters will love them in spite of the media telling us how bad they are.
After two terms of President Trump will we be able to accept a politician as our President again?
The way things are going it’s possible that in the past fifty years the strongest Presidents could be a B movie actor and a Reality TV star with an inclination towards Porn Stars.
Results matter, Results tell a story of accomplishment.
