Trump may be what Grant was for Lincoln’s America
This is an interesting analysis. Charles Hurt associates Trump with General Grant. President Lincoln decided that General Grant was the perfect soldier to put in command of the Union Army. Grant was Rude Crude and Socially Unacceptable, maybe not just like Trump but with similar unpopular qualities that made him unattractive.
To win the Civil War and to save the Union Grant proved to be the best choice. Without the Civil War Grant may have lived his life in obscurity. Trump has not lived in obscurity but when he wins the presidency and the screaming and crying from the left and the professional politicians winds down, Trump will successfully push this country back on the right course.
In everyone’s zeal to condemn Trump because he isn’t a traditional politician, they are losing sight of the fact that traditional politicians have gotten us where we are today. A non-traditional leader is what we need to get out of this mess.
Some may question how successful Grant was as President. His administration was filled with corruption but he was not at all corrupt. Grant’s weakness as president was he trusted people he felt could be trusted, but it turned out that honorable men faced with opportunities that they never faced before fell victim to their weaknesses.
As President will Trump make mistakes and get some things wrong? Almost certainly but he will try to do the best he can and he will push us away from the direction we are in now. Big government and big money donors call the shots now we are hoping for Trump to put an end to that. We need a Bull in a China Cabinet, not a smooth talking smoothie.
