The Qualities the President Needs

The Qualities the President Needs

What are the qualities that we want to see in our President?

Honesty is one. We want a President who will talk to us and tell us the truth. Our country is facing some significant and serious challenges right now and the President has to face up to those challenges and speak truthfully to us.

An honest President doesn’t need any political advisors. You don’t need political advice to tell the truth. Collect data, analyze it and understand what the data tells you. A smart President will ask the advice of other people to insure that the data is analyzed correctly.

We must have a President who is Loyal. Loyalty is an essential quality for every man and woman in the world. First we must all be true to ourselves, then to our family and friends and then to the people we work with. The President must be the person they have always been, not a phony just to get elected. They must be true to their family and friends. Most important they must be true to the voters who elected the President and not to the campaign contributors paid the bills during the election. Loyalty to the voter is a higher loyalty than to the campaign contributor.

We want out President to have a great deal of Courage. There is more than one kind of courage. The courage to run into a burning house to save a parent or a child is one thing. The courage to face down an armed felon and disarm the felon is another, but that’s not the type of courage we need. We need a President who is courageous enough to look the American Public in the eye and admit the problems with this country and let the chips fall where they may. The President must be courageous enough to tell us what we need to hear and smart enough not to sugar coat it for us.

We need our President to have a Positive Attitude. No one ever accomplished anything without a positive attitude. We face some serious challenges, only a leader with a positive attitude can overcome and prosper in an environment like that. We don’t need a President who expects to fail, or blames others for the situation or lack of progress.

We want a President who is Thick Skinned. As the main stream media makes itself more and more irrelevant the Media will take cheap shots at anyone who tries to make difficult decisions and take drastic action to overcome obstacles and meet challenges. The Pioneers always take the arrows. The irrelevant Main Stream media is sinking in its own bias pool of despair. They’ll always have a knee jerk reaction to the opinions and action taken by someone who does not follow their institutional mind set. Attacks and criticism from them will be harsh and undeserved. Our President must not allow the media to have a negative impact on their positive attitude or bold actions to lead us toward the solutions to our problems.

We want our President to have good Judgment. Our president never has to be the smartest person in the room. Our President does have to surround him or her self with quality people who will work well together. The team that the President puts together has to work well together and provide the President what is needed to make the best decisions as they are needed.

The most important quality our President must have is Leadership; the ability to motivate and inspire the American Public toward a common goal. Our Founding Fathers created a system of government that has survived and thrived for more than 200 years. Not only must the President lead the public but the President must lead his staff and Cabinet to be everything they can be and more.

Political skills are only marginally necessary to be an effective President, but unfortunately they are necessary to get elected.

The President has to make a significant impact on the voters and not the media. With today’s technology the President can talk directly to the public without the media as a filter. The media is doing itself no favors by making itself irrelevant because of its bias treatment of the news, therefore it will expedite its journey to the land of the 8 track and cassette recorders. They served a purpose in their time, but now they are just curiosities.

What we need is a Courageous Leader with a positive attitude who is thick skinned and honest and will exercise good judgment when facing the problems of today. I think I just described the love child of John Wayne, Maggie Thatcher, and Audie Murphy.

Is anyone like that in Public Life today?
