Why I Won’t Vote For You on Election Day

Why I Won’t Vote For You on Election Day

I have a clear understanding of what I want and what I don’t want in my elected officials. I’m pretty sure that my opinion will be shared by a lot of registered voters.

First off I don’t want to know what you want to tell me, I want to know what you’ve done. Don’t move your lips, if they’re moving you are not telling me anything I need to hear. Don’t pay someone to sing your praises, their moving lips are your moving lips and I don’t want to hear it. Show me what you’ve done so far in your life.  Don’t tell me show me, I want proof. Your character and accomplishments are more important than your presentation unfortunately many voters are too gullible and believe too much of what candidates say.

Next if you’re married and you run around on your spouse, I don’t need you. It’s not that I’m a prude; it’s just that if your spouse can’t trust you. I won’t trust you. Character matters, if you took a vow of fidelity and couldn’t keep it I won’t trust you with the public piggy bank. Don’t tell me it was only one time and you regretted it at the time. One time was one too many. If that limits to candidate pool, good it should be limited to men and women of integrity.

Show me how you’re going to reduce my taxes. My taxes at the local, state, and federal levels are way too high, I want them cut and I want them cut NOW. I don’t want to hear about the deficit and how deep in the hole we are, those problems will get fixed when we have the right kind of people in office. We don’t need to spend most of what we spend now, so I want it stopped immediately and only spend what needs to be spent.

Sign a document promising to cut spending and cut it deep, there’re a lot of things that don’t have to happen with our tax dollars. Half of what gets spent shouldn’t be spent. If you think I’m wrong show me. If you have character and integrity I may listen to you, but you better have good facts and hard evidence. Integrity is important when you sign that paper I want to know you’ll keep your word. I don’t want to know how you screwed people in the past and broke your word in your past life. Spend what needs to be spent for the common good and even spend some providing a helping hand for those who need it in time of need. Government should be available to help; it should not be there to support some people indefinitely. Those things that don’t need to be spent shouldn’t be spent. That’s where deficits come from. Raising taxes and borrowing money is not an acceptable solution to the problem. Spending is, or rather not spending is the solution.

I want a limit on the budget for each elected official’s staff. At the federal level I want it at $500,000 and no more. That is too generous, but we’ll take small steps at first. Right now each budget is much more than that. A smaller staff with fewer resources can cause less trouble and still do their job well.

I want an elected official who will refuse to vote for any legislation that’s more than 10 pages long. If you can’t create a law in 10 pages then we don’t need to have it inflicted on us. Starting with the eleventh page it’s a tap dance and not necessary. There’s a reason the Vaudeville is dead, and tap dancing may be the reason. There isn’t any excuse for a law to be that long; 2000 pages creates work for lawyers and we have too many of them in our lives as it is. KISS keep it simple stupid, is an important principle and I want it observed in government.

I want you available to explain yourself to those who voted for you. Your party leaders don’t need to control you, we do. We put you there and we want you serving us not them. Loyalty is important, and it’s a deal breaker. If you won’t be loyal to the people who voted for you, then you need to be booted out of office NOW, not when it’s time for another election.

I don’t want anyone who goes on a tax payer funded junket anywhere. You can do what you need to do in your office in your district and in the government office. There’s no need for you to piss away tax money to go anywhere for anything. After you cut our taxes and get our deficit under control it may be possible for a small group of one or two to go somewhere, without your staff, for something, but not now your predecessors pissed away all of your opportunities.

I don’t know what you read in your spare time, but I recommend some good westerns. Westerns seem to be filled with some pretty good men and women. Their word was their bond and they did the right things for the right reason and didn’t look to make a profit at the expense of others. Good is Good and Bad is Bad. I again refer to KISS, simple is as simple does.

These are the main reasons I won’t vote for you. These are the reasons I will vote for the men and women who finally push you away from the public trough.

Vote the Bums Out,

Gino
