The Tea Party and Me
I am starting to get excited about the upcoming November elections. Some of the winners of the primaries are not professional politicians, that works in our favor. Some of them have shady, questionable, off color, and insensitive histories. That also works in our favor. They have been successful in one field or another outside of elected politics. Some of them have never been in an elected position before. That really works in our favor. The background and the experience the long term politicians haven’t done me very much good so far.
I obviously can’t speak for the Tea Party Movement, but I can explain why I am excited and what I hope to gain from this change in attitude of many voters. Our elected officials have been screwing us for years. The first thing we must change is to get rid of professional legislators. This country was not founded on the premise that some of us would make a long term living serving the public. Public Service was intended to be performed by someone who was successful in life and wanted to give something back to the community. Legislators should have accomplished something in life other than serving in a position of fiscal responsibility for voters.
Many voters don’t use enough sense when they vote, the obvious proof of this is how much money is spent on political campaigns. That money gets spent because if you make enough posters and run enough ads on TV and Radio, a lot of voters will vote for a pig wearing a little bit of cheap lipstick. Professional politicians tell the voters things that they want to hear, and then don’t even try to do anything they said they would do. Not enough voters vote for what’s in the best interest of the voter.
Now let’s discuss what’s in the best interest of the voter. Lower taxes, much less spending and a lot less government. Every time tax rates have been reduced more dollars go into the general fund, the problem is as more dollars go in , those professional politicians spend more than they get. We must give them less and then make them stay within what they get. No one lets me write a check for money I don’t have, why should they get to do it. Cut our taxes now! Don’t be Cheap about the cuts, it’s our money let us keep more of it!
Less spending is another important issue. Professional politicians spend money irresponsibly on purpose. Their loyalties are questionable and they ability is limited. Most of them have never been successful in a position where they had to actually achieve results, so why should we expect them to be competent now. Money should only be spent on those items that are necessary for the common good. Some money could be spent on a safety net of some kind for temporary help for those in need, but not a permanent way of life open to serious abuse. Stop spending the revenues on items that are only intended to help professional politicians get reelected. More than half of what gets spend should be spent. Cut spending now!!!
We also need less government in our lives. Government tries to get into too much of our lives as individuals and companies. We have to many regulations telling us what we can do and what we can’t do. Less is more. We do need laws and we do need standards, but we don’t need the monster that the professional politicians have been growing for generations. The Ponzi Scheme that the professional politicians have built up and that we all must live with must be evaluated and downsized. I would rather have elected officials who have had success in other fields making those decisions than the people who built the monster in the first place.
We all have to be excited about the change in the wind. This year will be step one. Some new good people will come into office and help get things started in the right direction. In two years we will get to do it again. The new people will start to move things, and the old people will move in that direction to win favor with the new mindset of the voting public. Taxes have to come down, Spending as to come down too. Government has to get smaller and let the free market do what it does best.
We’re moving in the right direction and we have to keep pushing until this election is over. Then we have to start working on 2012. Lower taxes, less spending, smaller government, and no professional politicians.
Vote the Bums Out,
