Good News For New York
Since a week ago today the elected spend thrifts have not wasted too much of our tax money. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have not been directed to their nonprofit organizations to be put to good use by their friends and illegitimate relations posing as charitable organizations in an attempt to profit from our pain. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have not been used to buy favors or paid out as a reward for “services rendered” to shady characters who pull the strings of elected officials. No new taxes or fees have been generated by the state government to punish the success of those of us still stupid enough to stay in this state.
The elected hooligans have taken a week and a half off for the holidays. Unfortunately they come back in a couple of days so our party will be over and theirs will resume. And that’s more bad news for us.
Why did they send $150,000 to a yuppie organization made up of successful businessmen and sponsored by many large successful corporations? Whose picture do they have with who else’s wife? Was it an underage young lady? Or an underage young man? The only way a payment like that makes sense is for some blackmail to be involved. This state is and has been in a deep financial hole and we have been digging deeper for years. If one of the elected miscreants was caught doing something or someone he or she shouldn’t have been doing and somehow used the state piggy bank to pay the ransom, it would be more acceptable than what this appears to be. A routine payment to an organization for any purpose whatsoever because they can. If this money was sent to this organization to feed starving widows and orphans it shouldn’t have been sent. When your family is broke and you can’t put food on the table you don’t put a twenty dollar bill in the offering plate on Sunday morning, no matter how bad the church needs help.
How many thousands or millions of dollars are those serial money wasters sending to anybody for any reason at all. They can’t or won’t pass the state budget on time, mostly because they have conflicting masters instructing them how to balance the shaky budget. Apparently they think they’re not allowed to think and act independently and cut spending and stop the pain for those who elected them into office. They never believed that they’re there to act in the best interests of those who voted for them. As they whine and cry and negotiate with those power brokers who got them elected, they’re still unable to pass a budget. These power brokers cleaned them up and put them on view for public consumption as long as they understood they’ll do what they were told when they were told to do it.
Now that they’re in office, and funds are short, conflicting interests of the powers that be (not the elected hooligans or the tax payers) have to stamp and grunt and piss into the wind to determine who’s the bigger boss. And who has a bigger appetite for our tax dollars. As they scratch and grumble and push the elected stooges around nothing is getting done except payments of $150,000 to organizations that don’t need it. Are we proud of ourselves yet?
Why can’t we stop spending money? It’s not there to spend. Who’s signing these checks? Is there a signature machine pumping out checks with approval signatures on them? Isn’t there a responsible adult someplace to look at who it’s going to and why?
I have a wonderful suggestion. Pay me a million dollars a month. Yes I said $1,000,000 and I will review every check that the state sends out. I WILL NOT approve every check. They’ll have to pass a smell test, and I have a good sense of smell. I can smell what the dog leaves behind on our daily walks from a good distance.
There are four things you should get from that last paragraph. First, that’s 12 million dollars a year, and I asked for it with a straight face. Second, if they accepted my offer and I did as I promised, New York State would be in much better financial shape immediately. Third, I wouldn’t be the fattest pig feeding from the public trough. And finally and most importantly, 95% of the voting public would love me. They would create holidays to honor me, offer me their sincere thanks and inform me that I should get more money for what I’m doing for them.
Reread the last two paragraphs, that shows you how bad off this state is.
