Arrogance and Self Confidence

Arrogance and Self Confidence
The dictionary defines arrogance as “an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions”. It also defines self confidence as “freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities ” One of these definitions defines an individual’s believe in oneself and your personal abilities, the other defines a position in life that is superior to others. Life gives all of us a sliding scale, with insecurity on one side and arrogance on the other side. Somewhere in the middle is self confidence and some where is arrogance. My perception of where the lines are may be different than your perception. My self confidence may appear to you to be arrogance, Your self confidence, or lack thereof, may appear to be insecurity to me.
A great philosopher (Babe Ruth) once said “It ain’t bragging if you can do it.” If I back up my strong self confidence with results, your perception that I’m arrogant dissipates. If my perception of your arrogance is not backed up by your results, your arrogance is now compounded by your failure. You’ve successfully multi tasked, now you’re an arrogant failure.
Unfortunately elected officials seem to have an arrogant attitude toward their constituents. They possess a clear attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner. If they don’t really feel that way they certainly act in a way to make me perceive they’re arrogant. In their capacity as an elected official, they look in the voter’s eye and tell them what they want to hear, but then go and do what someone else tells them to do. The feeling of superiority might come from the high percentage of incumbents who get reelected. It might come from the positive reinforcement they receive from their paid hacks who stand behind them and tell them what a great job they’re doing. It might come from the silence they receive from the voters they disappoint on a daily basis.
Our elected empty suits find so many ways to disappoint their voters every day. The most significant way they disappoint us is in their inability to safeguard the public piggy bank. These mental midgets vote on anything that’s put in front of them. Their power brokers and their leaders tell them to vote for this waste of public funds and the empty suits do as instructed. Did you just ask who their leaders and power brokers are? Does it matter? They’re not doing what’s in the best interest of the voters. Outspending revenue, raising taxes, allowing money to be shoveled out of the public piggy bank for no apparent reason. These are not in the best interest of anyone who votes.
Self Confidence is a quality of the challengers these incumbents will face in the next election. The elected empty suits have dug a financial hole so deep at the local, state, and federal levels that no one can tolerate it any more. The records and the evidence of their poor performance in office, the waste and failure of programs that they’ve voted for over and over cannot be defended. We have all been taxed into submission and can’t tolerate it any more. My pockets are threadbare from how often their hands have been in them.
Any candidate regardless of party will be able to run a successful campaign showing what poor legislation the incumbent voted for repeatedly. As the incumbent tries to change the subject and put lipstick on the pig, the record will be clear and obvious. As the incumbents paid hacks publish the pictures, video and DNA evidence of the challenger in a sleazy motel with an underage, alien, goat, the voters will still vote for that allegedly degenerate challenger instead of the serial money waster and public liar.
Self confidence, honesty, and integrity are the qualities we want in public office. The incumbents need to explore the mysteries of a variety of unemployment lines and new and improved elected officials need to work at satisfying the people who voted for them in the form of tax cuts and bigger and better spending cuts. Spending has to get under control, NOW, taxes must be cut NOW. Deficits are bad, Tax cuts are good. Don’t tell us what you can’t do for us. Do something positive for the voters and see if we reelect you.
It’s our money and we do care how you spend it.

Vote the Bums Out,

Gino
